Winter Solstice – The longest night! The sun stands still for 3 days. On the third day the light returns. Each day it’s a few minutes longer. Another solar year begins. And with the sun’s return from the darkness, members of the SW FL spiritual community celebrate with ceremony, music, song, dance, lights and drumming. Bring your husbands and your children to this celebration. The Rockin’ Kirtan Band will perform as will The Venice Frame Drummers who will “drum” attendees into the center. Marguerite Barnett dances the Return of the Light. Young children in the community form a procession of light, symbolic of the return of the sun to the northern hemisphere. A Mandala of Light will grace the altar.
Doors open at 6:30 pm and close at 7 pm when the ceremony starts. MEN AND WELL-BEHAVED CHILDREN INVITED
The evening is offered by suggested donation of $10 to Rising Tide. Donations are tax deductible. These ceremonies are always well-attended events. BUT DO NOT PARK ON GRAFTON ST. Overflow parking is available at the Ashton St Post Office, one block south of Rising Tide.
